The season starts in january every year in Levin-- this is a garden in Kuku Beach Rd just South of Levin & were picked for the local supermarket market as well as for Jam.The season only lasted approx 2 months in Levin and the berries are excellent. The black berries are picked not the red ones which are still growing but now stopped

How to make jam: 4 cups of blackberries to the same of sugar. Boil slowly the blackberries. Then add the sugar and allow to dissolve until ready to get the excess water off. Just gently simmer until you have a nice consistency and then put in sterilized jars.Its easy and take about 10-15 minutes.
