MERCEDES BENZ 2001-2001 C200 KOMPRESSOR AND

CHANGING THE OIL AND OIL FILTERS AND WHAT TO USE

The Mercedes-Benz made a C200 Kompressor coupe in 2001, labelled the C-Class SportCoupé. The C200 is the touring compact car thats not going to kill you on the costs for some parts etc due to ebay as parts can be cheap if you don't mind waiting for 2 weeks. You can get a manual online for these models or on trademe in NZ or on ebay. Cars from 2000 to 2002 are powered by a 2-litre four-cylinder supercharged petrol engine & then those from the mid-2002 to 2007 have a smaller 1.8-litre version.

The  engine uses a mechanical injection the Siemens PEC/PMS (Pressure Engine Control) management system, which integrates fuel and spark management. Its a strong motor for a strong gearbox and the auto is 5 speed. It uses 2 ignition coils and no ignition distributor. Cylinders are fired in pairs (dual fire) - 1 and 4 together, and 2 and 3 together. The crankshaft position sensor is sensing the movement of two radially opposed position plates on the flywheel, one of which is magnetized, and the other is not. Similar to the M111.940 engine, the 942 version also came out. It produces 100 kW (134 hp, 136PS) of power and 190 Nm (140 lb·ft) of torque.

• Acceleration 0 - 100 km/h. 8 sec.

The four cylinder C200 Kompressor,has a very fast engine AND THE C230 has been reknown to do up to 450,000kms with same clutch & minor repairs. The Kompressor is supercharged hence its name. , The car's performance and amazing economy is an asset.

The Kompressor version as above is supercharged.The C-Class is Benz's best selling model and is available with a range of engines, starting with two 1.8-litre supercharged fours but I have seen where a C180 did 450,000 miles on the clock still with the same clutch. Servicing and a new cam belt all was needed so not bad for a MB Mercedes Benz C Class. The fact a MB is cheap in NZ is because of the parts and intricate workings of the sensors and motors. However they are super strong in the boday with very heavy doors, bonnet and boot so one feels safe in these cars.

use OW-40  OR Castrol 5W-40 Supercheap special $49.99 Motor oil Helix HX7 C 5W-40 is an ideal alternative to the more expensive oils for C200 (M111) (203 Series - C Class) (P) (2000-) But it satisfies the specification for the oils for cars MERCEDES-BENZ. Must service oil change with agent as they need to unlock the computer service function?

How to change the oil on a W202 C200 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Tools Required

• Socket Set;Trolley Jack and Axle Stands. Oil Pan

Parts Required

• Replacement Oil Filter; 5w-40 Oil (5.5L) Sump Plug + Washer

1/.Remove the splash shield located under the engine. This is secured with six bolts as circled.

2/. Raise the vehicle and place it onto axle stands. The jacking point located towards the front of the engine.

3/. You will also need to remove the rearwards splash shield which covers the second half of the engine, as well as the transmission. Bolts are located as per the picture.6 bolts

4/. Drain the oil. 13mm socket, gently loosen the sump bolt.
Change new nut washer?

 5/. Locate the oil filter in the engine bay. It is a cartridge style filter inside a plastic canister in the front right side of the motor under the cover in behind the radiator. Using a large band oil filter cartridge removal tool to undo.
6/.  Once loosened, pull upwards and remove cartridge filter from the vehicle.
7/. Pull gently on the cartridge to remove it from the canister lid. There is 1x O-ring that we need to change. These are highlighted in the image.
8/.Remove the  O-ring and replace.

OIL FILTERS TO USE:
The Hengst filter is inside with one rubber O ring , unscrew the oil filter cap. BNT cost Trade $16.97  & retail $24.24. [Supercheap around $33?]. Hengst Filter Part No: E142H D21 Oil/Fil Merc AESSA.

The W203 filter is actually smaller and located at the back of the motor not the front like the W202 engine being in the front right side behind the radiator under the cover.

C200 OIL FILTER SUPERCHEAP: EO -2637   =$27 [ is for a W203  ] not this C200.
CHANGE GEARBOX AUTO OIL:

Raise the car up and drain the fluid from the gearbox sump pan. Use a 5 mm Allen key and tap it in with a hammer. They can be very tight.

If taking thE pan off to clean the tray Re-fit the sump drain screw and torque to 20NM.

The C200 comes in a coupe or roadster version or a saloon. Fuel consumption is 7.90 L / 100 km

CANNOT GET GEAR LEVER OUT OF PARK MODE:

You need to push your car onto a truck or trailer as won't start & you cannot move it. Easy fix. Take the housing off the gearstick & on the back or side you will see a plastic toggle to slide either up or down. That will then release the gear stick to the neutral position.
